Thank you @iamthelab for selecting me as the HM100 artist of the year. Visit their website iamthelab.com to read the interview that I did for them ( which I describe my current thoughts of being a maker) and to learn more about HM100, Home of the Modern Maker which includes many many other amazing makers. Thanks Brett!
I use one side of the credenza for my daughters toys. We can sometimes get two hours of her happily playing beside me while I work on orders in the gallery ( while the gallery is closed). Being pregnant limits the amount of time I can work, as all of my work is physical, so now I need to attempt to split my work day into two short parts with a big rest in the middle of the day. So happy we found RIE to help us learn how to learn independent play.
I have brought my sale shelf back, a bunch of odds and ends and seconds for ceramics, and I am also starting to put much of the non-ceramic work on sale also ( napkins, tea towels, table runners, coasters, cutting boards) as I have learned what sells and what doesn't sell in the gallery. I don't have these sale items listed online, but if Instagram followers come in I will offer an extra 15% discount on these 25%-50% off sale items if you ask for it.
I am here today and tomorrow, my usual 12:30-6 hours. Next week I will be open Friday and Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday. #vitrifiedstudiocollection
If you've been in the gallery, you have seen that I also have some of my mom's pysanky eggs here (she is @sweetbing ). I have a special pair of eggs with hearts, I am hoping someone might want them for Valentine's Day. Her eggs are $20 each, but my current 25% off sale for everything non-ceramic includes her eggs. I am here today and tomorrow from 12:30-6. #vitrifiedstudiocollection #pysanky
I made it into the gallery in this icy mess. The sidewalks are covered in ice though, so maybe come tomorrow instead of today. I'll be here making and making both days, as I still have a big pile of open orders to finish up. I am still running my 25% off sale for accessories, I have lots of tea towels, linen napkins, wooden accessories, etc that are on sale as I start to redefine the focus of the shop this year.
Studio Assistant needed! Just a quick post to see if there are any NE Portland folks interested in helping me as a studio assistant. I could use maybe 4-5 hours for one afternoon a week, helping me glaze and load kilns, move stuff around, and some general studio and gallery floor cleaning to control dust. Any day from Monday to Thursday would work, ideally from 1-5 pm or so just one day a week. No experience required, but hopefully you can left heavy things and don't mind my craziness.
Let me know asap, I am hoping to find someone to start this week. Thanks!! Shelley Vitrifiedstudio@gmail.com
Finally have the energy for my larger pieces. It seemed like everyone ordered my extra wide utensil holders after the holidays so I have a bunch of these to throw. I am hoping to have superwoman strength tomorrow to throw a bunch more. I still have sale listings hidden throughout my etsy shop, including these.
For the last Thursday event tonight, I still have work up by 4 guest artists. @careenstollceramics @whitebikeceramics @jeanettezeis and @jmarsicek. I will be open until 9 tonight. I am also doing 25% off most non-ceramic accessories. Hope to see you tonight, and I am also open Friday and Saturday 12:30-6. I am ending my Sundays in the gallery, back to my normal weekly schedule.
I'm back in the studio with NEWS, after a long break. It took me a week to recover from NZ. But the four of us made it, that includes the baby boy due in June that happily traveled along in my growing belly. I have a big list of open orders to dive into, a few dinner sets, dreams of finalizing my 2017 color palette, and lots of work to do for the upcoming #nceca exhibition in my gallery. I hope to get lots done in these next months, and then hopefully take a little break once the baby comes. If there is someone in Portland interested in sharing the gallery with me after March, please let me know. I would love to find someone else with a similar aesthetic who could also use the small space, for working and showing their work, it doesn't need to be a ceramic artist if the workstation needs are small. Thanks for following along, 2017 is already looking to be full of big changes.
My first chance to get back into the studio was today, but instead we marched. For my daughter, for my family, for my city and for my country. I am proud we were there alongside the 100k others in the pouring rain in Portland Oregon.
We are on our last day in NZ, heading to the airport in a few hours. Here is a video from the weekend in Coromandel our last little adventure here. I will be back in the studio as soon as possible to get out all of my open orders. Thank everyone who shopped online while I was out of town, it made the trip less stressful knowing I have work to go back to and this month's bills can be paid. See you soon Portland!
Still out on a little vacation in NZ, while our neighborhood back home gets snow. I heard it's up to 10" in our NE Portland neighborhood and it's going to keep coming. We will enjoy our time away even more knowing what a crazy mess Portland must be.

We are still on our family vacation, my shops are still mostly closed, and I will be back soon to start again. But until then, a view from Queenstown in the South Island of NZ. My husband is posting more photos ( this one is his, I'm sure you can tell) on his Instagram account, @msarch and all the photos of our daughter are on our personal acct. Headed into the Milford sound today.
Happy New Year from New Zealand! Looking east towards the Pacific Ocean!
Last day for shopping the 25% off sale. I am here until 3 today, and then I will run home and ship a few more boxes before the post office closes. After today I am closed until the second half of January. I still have great pieces a few friends in the gallery too, like the gorgeous fermentation crock by Careen Stoll.
I've added a few Sale listings to my online shops to start my after Christmas Sale early. I have the same Sale plus many more items going on in my gallery on Alberta street this week, and I hope to add more sale listings as I can. I have a sale section for ready made and custom urns and utensil holders in my etsy shop, and I tried to mark everything in my website shop down about 25% or so. You can also still use the Instagram fan coupon code in both shops on top of these discounts. I will be shipping ready made items until Christmas Eve, it's currently too late to order for a delivery before Christmas , and then taking a break from making and shipping and until late January. Please check the processing times on your custom order items, they are all extended currently. Both shops can be accessed via my website. Thanks!! Last day at the #remodelistamarket at @rejuvenation . I am here today until 5 and inside! My husband said the tent was chilly yesterday, so today is nice and cozy inside. I restocked with a kiln of sand colored stoneware canisters, planters and pourers. My husband @msarch will be keeping the gallery open today from 12-4. The 25% off sale has started in the gallery on my ceramics and will go til Christmas Eve. I will add more open hours this week after I do a big shipping day tomorrow for my open orders. Hope to see you soon!
We are all set up at the @remodelista Market in Portland at @rejuvenation . My husband @msarch is there today from 10-6, and I am in my studio getting all these open orders into the kiln and finished up. I will be at the gallery at 12:30-6. Tomorrow the market and gallery will also be open, I will post those hours tomorrow. #remodelistamarket #remodelista
